Common Settlement Options
We have given below a brief, general description of
some common life insurance and annuity settlement options.. Note
that policy provisions may vary from company to company, from state
to state, and from policy form to policy form, even between forms
of the same company. Always consult your policy for the exact terms
that apply to your situation.
Period Certain
This option provides for fixed monthly
income payments to be made for a period not to exceed a company
designated amount of years.
Amount Certain
This option provides for fixed monthly
income payments to be made for an agreed upon amount until proceeds
and interest are used up.
Life
Income With Guaranteed Period
This option provides for fixed monthly
income payments to be made throughout the life of the annuitant
and continues to the beneficiary for the balance of the guaranteed
period.
Life
Income With Guaranteed Return of the Amount
This option provides for monthly income
payments to be made throughout the life of the annuitant and continues
to the beneficiary until total payments equal amount paid for the
annuity.
Based
on Two Lives
This option provides for fixed monthly
income payments to be made throughout the lifetime of two persons.
The survivor receives the same monthly payment, 2/3 of the monthly
payment or ½ of the monthly payment, depending on which plan is
chosen.
